Shopping for travel bargains

After enjoying boom times for several years, many travel companies are hurting again and they have inventory left over. In some cases, newly built or expanded hotels have added to capacity just as consumers started to cool off.
If you’ve been hankering to go to Disney World, this Memorial Day weekend could be a good time to do it.
A year ago, four-star hotel rooms in Orlando, Fla., were selling for just over $100 a night according to Hotwire.com, the discount travel agency. This time around you can get them for just $65.
You can thank the economic slowdown for some good consumer deals this spring. But of course in a free market economy there’s a silver cloud to most things, including a slowdown.
