Travel is extremely important to boomers

Their vacations may not be relaxing, but they're valuable because they're an escape - a break in everyday life. Even in this shaky economy, boomers are going to continue to "get away from your life and shake it off for a weekend without putting a big hole in your budget."
Boomers, now ages 44 to 62, have disposable income, flexible schedules and tend to see themselves as denizens of the wide world. That’s why they love to travel, with many seeing it as a necessity, rather than an extra, especially after their nests empty.
And experts say boomers’ vacations tend to be different than those of the previous generation. More than simply relaxing, they want to achieve something.
Travel is extremely important to boomers: About half of the items on their “bucket lists” are travel-related, according to Eons.com, a Web site for people ages 50 and older that asked visitors what they wanted to do during the rest of their lives.
