TripIt iPhone app takes travel itineraries on the road

Online travel itinerary and trip planning service TripIt launched TripIt for iPhone. This free application for the Apple iPhone displays a traveler’s detailed itinerary on their mobile phone, so they have all their travel plans at their fingertips.
TripIt is a popular service for organizing and sharing travel plans. With the new TripIt for iPhone, travelers now have mobile access to all their TripIt itineraries, which can include travel plans from more than 500 booking sites. Travelers can quickly find the travel details they need, whether their iPhone is online, offline or in airplane mode, and easily link to websites or call numbers from their itinerary.
“An iPhone app has been one of the top requests from TripIt travelers,” commented Gregg Brockway, co-founder and president, TripIt. “It’s ideal for the frequent traveler, who can just forward their confirmation emails to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) and automatically get all their plans on their iPhone.”
TripIt for iPhone is available for free in the Apple iTunes App Store or at TripIt. TripIt supports other mobile devices with a specially-designed website at m.tripit.com.
TripIt for iPhone was created using the TripIt API (Application Programming Interface) that enables developers to build on TripIt’s open itinerary platform. More than 100 developers are using the TripIt API to create the next generation of travel services.
“We built the TripIt for iPhone app using our TripIt API to make sure developers could easily build the same type of apps on their own,” said Andy Denmark, co-founder and VP Development, TripIt. “In doing so, we further improved the API for our developer community.”
