Expedia’s WWTE expands relationship with Delta

April 06, 2004 |

In addition to hotel bookings, Delta now uses Expedia's WWTE private-label service also for car rental reservations on delta.com.

Expedia, Inc. today extended its relationship with Delta Air Lines. This deal enhances the rental car offerings at delta.com, and extends Delta’s existing relationship with WWTE.

“WWTE allows us to offer our customers a wealth of hotel and car choices at competitive prices,” said Carolyn Rak, Delta’s managing director—Online Sales and Service. “This product responds to customer input indicating they want a choice of hotel and car options when they travel.”

Expedia’s WWTE technology enables access to Expedia’s vast selection of marquee and boutique hotel properties and cars from the best-known rental brands. WWTE also provides Expedia’s industry-leading reliability and customer experience, while maintaining the branding and look of delta.com.

The successful relationship between Delta and Expedia dates back to October 1997 when Expedia first began offering its customers the ability to book flights on Delta at Expedia.com. Last year, the relationship was expanded when delta.com began using WWTE for online hotel bookings.

“We’re committed to helping our partners satisfy the needs of their customers, and couldn’t be happier to enter an even deeper relationship with the world’s second largest airline,” said Barney Harford, vice president of air, car and private label at Expedia, Inc. “WWTE is a very cost-effective way for Delta to provide a much more complete travel offering to its customers, and keep Delta competitive in today’s value segment of the airline business.”
