Travel search engine SideStep, Inc. entered a partnership with Fairmont Hotels & Resorts to drive consumers to the hotelier’s award-winning Web site to book their travel.
In 2003, Fairmont’s Web site was honored with numerous industry awards, including “World’s Leading Hotel Web site” (World Travel Awards), “Gold Award—Most Effective Travel Web site” (Association of Travel Marketing Executives) and the Golden Click Award (Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International). In November, 2003, the company launched a revised edition of the site based on guest and partner feedback. The enhanced site features a streamlined booking process, destination guides, striking photos of rooms and public spaces, activity information and more.
“SideStep enables us to more effectively merchandise our product,” said Jens Thraenhart, Fairmont’s Director of Internet Strategy. “Unlike most other travel sites, SideStep provides prospective customers direct access to Fairmont.com, where our new online capabilities can support a much more customized and enhanced online experience. This will lead to increased customer satisfaction and loyalty by providing consumers increased functionality and convenience, exclusive package offers, high quality content, activity booking capabilities, travel tools and other features unique to our site.”
“Our partnership with Fairmont exemplifies our distinctive approach to online travel,” said SideStep CEO Brian Barth. “SideStep is focused on promoting our partners’ exceptional travel offerings to valuable prospective customers. When they are ready to buy, SideStep takes consumers straight to the sites of our partners to complete their transactions.”
SideStep was named Silicon Valley’s third fastest growing private company in October, 2003, by PricewaterhouseCoopers and The Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal.
