Hotwire to launch magazine subscription program

December 08, 2005 |

Upon booking their travel plans, Hotwire customers will be able to receive one-year magazine subscriptions included as a benefit of purchasing through Hotwire.

M2 Media Group entered a marketing partnership with Hotwire.com that will provide magazine subscriptions to purchasers of airline tickets, hotel reservations, vacation packages and cruises. Upon booking their travel plans, Hotwire customers will be able to receive one-year magazine subscriptions included as a benefit of purchasing through Hotwire.

"Hotwire is one of the leading names in the travel industry; one that serves a large audience with diverse interests," said Michael Borchetta, CEO of M2. "We are pleased to partner with an organization with such great brand equity, and continue in our strategy to build high quality programs for the publishing community."

The program is already receiving tremendous attention from the publishing community, with early commitments from major publishers. The combination of a highly recognizable brand, a category that sells high-ticket items and a large volume of transactions translates into the high quality magazine subscribers sought by publishers. Additionally, the opt-in nature of the program with a broad selection of titles makes this further desirable from a circulation perspective.

Part of the Expedia, Inc. family of companies, Hotwire consistently offers lower prices on airline tickets, hotel rooms, rental cars, cruises and vacation packages. "Hotwire is committed to providing travelers with a best- in-class customer experience, and that includes offering them value-added services, such as magazine subscriptions," said Tim MacDonald, vice president of product management at Hotwire.com. "As a leader in providing great deals on travel, this program is consistent with our mission and enables us to offer another way to save money to our discount-minded customers."
