The pressure on prices in the UK budget hotel sector has intensified through 2004 because of the emergence of a third major player - Days Inns and Days Hotels.

The pressure on prices in the U.K. budget hotel sector has intensified through 2004 because of the emergence of a third major player - Days Inns and Days Hotels, part of the Cendant Corporation.

The world’s largest hotel brand, with 1900 properties in 14 countries, intends to have a 90-strong UK portfolio in place by the end of 2005.

Days Inn prices start at £35 for family rooms, though lowest rates are usually in properties near motorways.

It has just launched a scheme to attract online bookings, by promising a free night’s accommodation to anybody who manages to find a cheaper rate on the internet for the same night in the same hotel that they have already booked.
