March 24, 2004 |

Marriott.com set a record for revenue in 2003 with gross sales of more than $1.4 billion, a 29 percent increase from 2002.

Marriott.com, the web site of Marriott International, Inc., set a record for revenue in 2003 with gross sales of more than $1.4 billion, a 29 percent increase from 2002, the company said. Online bookings on Marriott.com continue to grow. So far this year, Marriott’s web site has already booked a record number of reservations on two separate days. The latest record took place Tuesday, Feb. 10, when more than 25,000 bookings were made.

Marriott has made significant enhancements to the web site for leisure customers. Travelers are taking advantage of features such as Last-Minute Weekends, which offers hotel, airfare and car packages, available within two weeks of departure that offer up to 60 percent savings. Design Your Own packages enable travelers to custom design their own vacation packages, including hotel rooms, flights and car rentals for any time they want to travel. Two or more people can travel anywhere in the U.S., with the best values booked at least 14 days in advance. These features can be found under the specials and packages section of Marriott.com.

This year, additional enhancements to Marriott.com will make it easier to plan and book group events, such as weddings. In addition, Marriott.com will increase the number of global sites tailored to international markets.
