Mobissimo launches in Germany

Popular travel search engine Mobissimo added Germany to its worldwide network of local travel search sites, with a new site featuring local content geared to German users.
Mobissimo now covers the top eight online markets in Europe, including France, Italy, Poland, Spain, and the UK, as well as India and North America.
More than a simple translation, Mobissimo’s new German site includes fares and offers from local travel agencies, consolidators, hotels and all the major and low-cost airlines relating to German users. The Germany launch matches the strong demand in Eastern and Western Europe for online travel options: European countries account for more than 50 per cent of all worldwide travel.
A 2008 study conducted by IPK International for the German National Tourist Board (GNTB) shows Germany’s travel market on the rise, spurred by the strong demand for business travel and the growth in low-cost travel options. The GNTB expects the total volume of tourism in Germany to grow by 2 per cent in 2008 to over 365 million overnight stays.
“Our German users are expert travellers and we’re happy to offer them a site that displays more itinerary options than any other travel site,” said Beatrice Tarka, Mobissimo’s CEO and co-founder. “We understand Europe’s great culture of travel and are keen to meet the demand of its large travelling population to find the best online options for business trips and holiday travel.”
With a single click, Mobissimo searches and compares over 200 travel sites in real time and covers more low-cost airlines and consolidators than any other search engine. Mobissimo users benefit from a large array of easy to use recommendation tools that help travellers discover new destinations, routes and up-to-the-minute travel deals.
