Internet based travel bookings are expected to make up 10 per cent of travel spending in Australia by the end of the year.

Bookings through online travel agents are growing at 30 per cent monthly. A year ago, the three main online booking agents in Australia - travel.com, WebJet and Zuji - between them booked 3-4 per cent of all travel spending.
Zuji Australia general manager Jo O’Brien said Australia had the highest consumer acceptance of e-commerce in the Asia-Pacific region.
The early move by major Australian banks to establish a robust web channel several years ago meant that many Australian consumers had grown accustomed to making transactions online, she said.
