priceline’s MyTravelGuide.com personalizes online travel planning

November 04, 2005 |

priceline.com's travel research site MyTravelGuide.com now allows consumers to read reviews and view photos of destinations, hotels, attractions, and restaurants from around the world, and easily save any interesting information to a file for a specific trip.

priceline.com’s MyTravelGuide.com says it is the first major Internet travel research site to offer consumers a set of free, easy to use tools that allow them to create and save personalized trip itineraries that include maps, hotels, directions, local attractions, and restaurant information and descriptions.

“Most travel sites only allow consumers to browse research content without the ability to organize or save it in a trip file,” said MyTravelGuide General Manager Matt Solomon. “With this first-of-its-kind feature, MyTravelGuide is introducing a new and valuable level of personalization to Internet travel research.”

Personalization and interactivity are two elements that set MYTravelGuide apart from other research services. This summer, MyTravelGuide launched another feature that enables consumers to set up a free, private bulletin board on the site, where they and fellow travelers can discuss an upcoming group trip using the information available on MyTravelGuide.

Today’s new feature, MY Places, allows consumers to read reviews and view photos of destinations, hotels, attractions, and restaurants from around the world, and easily save any interesting information to a file for a specific trip. MY Places’ customizable city maps allow consumers to see their desired hotels, attractions and restaurants all pinpointed on a printable map with streets and landmarks. When a consumer is ready to book a hotel, they can link directly to top online travel services without any further browsing.

In addition to the latest trip planning features, MyTravelGuide is full of valuable intelligence on all aspects of a travel, including hotel and restaurant reviews, photos, and descriptions from tourists and travel pros, city guides, destination-specific articles, maps and links to Internet-based travel reservation services.
