January 06, 2010 |

The Associated Press recently polled three travel gurus, who shared their 2010 predictions for the travel industry. Like airfares are going up, but hotel rates are going down, and all-inclusive resorts gaining popularity with budget-conscious travelers.

Genevieve Shaw Brown of Travelocity.com believes that airfares will increase, but that hotel rates will continue to go down. She also believes that resorts in places like the Caribbean and Hawaii will offer good values, as will all-inclusive resorts.

Clem Bason at Hotwire.com echoed Brown and said that hotel prices will continue to drop, and that those looking for a good deal should keep their eyes on Las Vegas, Miami, Los Angeles and San Francisco. In addition, he indicated that price differences between four- and five-star hotels will shrink.

Meanwhile, J. Walter Thompson predicted that airlines will offer annual subscriptions for checked luggage and that business travelers will bundle shorter trips into single, longer trips.
