Travelzoo UK experiences surge in web traffic

September 16, 2005 |

The increase in visits to Travelzoo UK's Web site is attributed to the growing number of first-time users resulting from Travelzoo UK's brand awareness campaign as well as the ongoing interest of repeat visitors.

Travelzoo Inc.‘s subsidiary Travelzoo UK Ltd has seen tremendous growth in both consumer usage and advertiser support of http://www.travelzoo.co.uk, its Web site targeted to travelers from Europe and the United Kingdom.

Travelzoo UK Ltd experienced a 300% surge in Web site traffic in the 30 days ending September 14, 2005 compared with the previous month. During the past four weeks, the site generated more than 500,000 visits. Travelzoo UK also added 11 new travel companies to its clientele in the past two months, including some of the largest names in European and United Kingdom travel.

The increase in visits to Travelzoo UK’s Web site is attributed to the growing number of first-time users resulting from Travelzoo UK’s brand awareness campaign as well as the ongoing interest of repeat visitors. The Travelzoo UK team conducts a rigorous editorial screening of each of its advertisers’ travel deals prior to publication. The high quality of the research and approach to travel deal selection and publication by the Travelzoo UK team continues to drive repeat, loyal visitors as well as new visitors to the site.

Since Travelzoo UK began operations in May 2005, it has signed 26 advertisers who provide high quality deal content for flights, vacation packages and lodging. The 11 newest advertisers are respected travel companies and include: Barcelo Hotels & Resorts, easyCruise, easyHotel, First Choice, Flight Centre, Icelandair, Short Breaks, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Thomson Holidays, Travelocity.co.uk and TUI.

“Travel companies and consumers have quickly recognized the value of Travelzoo UK’s thoroughly researched, quality travel recommendations,’’ said Chris Loughlin, Managing Director of Travelzoo UK. “In addition, travel companies are beginning to leverage our global reach. For example, four UK clients have advertised in our US publications. Conversely, three Travelzoo UK clients came to us as a result of referrals from their US subsidiaries.”
