While we know that Airbnb is big in cities like New York, the company released a list of 16 neighborhoods they believe will be trending in 2016. Their predictions were based on the percentage growth of inbound guests staying at Airbnb’s in certain cities from 2014 to 2015. A common thread among the 16 cities is that many travelers chose to stay to visit in order to immerse themselves in art, food, and outdoor experiences. Many of these areas are residential and located outside of busy downtown districts. Airbnb reports that these locations allow travelers to have a host who can show them around and help them experience the city like a local.
