Thailand-based Asia Web Direct (AWD), an online hotel reservation and travel services provider that operates more than 100 websites covering popular destinations all over Southeast Asia, has signed an agreement with Starwood Hotels & Resorts to promote and distribute its fast-growing number of properties in the Asia Pacific region.

The websites in the AWD stable attract a staggering three million visitors monthly, and include top-ranking travel portals like, and the very popular last-minute hotel reservation site The Starwood partnership follows a similar agreement AWD recently signed with Accor Hotels.

Neil Cumming, President of AWD, said these direct partnerships with leading hotel chains ultimately benefit the end-user. "The strength of our websites and their technological advancements, combined with the impressive hotels portfolio of brands under the Starwood umbrella, makes for a perfect partnership. It enables us to offer our customers the most competitive, updated and promotional Internet rates, while providing significant online exposure to these hotels on multiple destination portals," he said.

"Our core function as a third-party distribution channel means partnerships with key hotel brands are vital to sustain the continuous growth we've been able to achieve since the inception of Asia Web Direct in 1993." According to Mr. Cumming, one of the most important components of offering online accommodation reservations is room availability, another factor that has prompted AWD to foster direct business relationships with hotel partners.

He added: "We're also set to continue expansion of our destination websites worldwide, and we hope to see the Starwood agreement extend globally in the very near future."
