With the price increases imposed on air, hotel, and car rentals, American Express estimates that the average domestic business trip will cost $46 more this year and the average international trip will increase by $180.

And given the likely rise in oil prices in the coming months, those increases are most likely only the beginning.

With overcrowded airplanes, sold out hotels, wasted time in security lines, the carry-on liquids ban, and so many more post-9/11 hassles, business travel has become the bane for most. Now we will be paying more to endure those hassles and inconveniences in the coming year, through the triple whammy of increased air, car and hotel prices.
