Internet travel site Expedia has turned to JiWire to provide its customers with the whereabouts of wireless hot spots at their intended destinations.

As part of the newly signed agreement, Expedia will include data from JiWire's WiFi Hotspot Finder service as part of its online travel booking service. Specifically, travelers will be able to pinpoint hotels, resorts and other lodging location worldwide that offer Wi-Fi access.

"This year, more than half of all hotel accommodations will be purchased online," says JiWire CEO Kevin McKenzie. "As the number of wireless Internet users has grown, it has become increasingly important for people to be able to rely on Wi-Fi connections when they are on the road," he says.

The Travel Industry Association reports that 53 percent of travelers using online travel sites book their hotel accommodations over the Web.

Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
