GDS promotion alerts are proving an effective method of stimulating travel agent requests and sales, a report conducted on behalf of hotel e-commerce solutions firm TravelCLICK has revealed.

Of the 474 global travel agents surveyed (including the UAE) by Phoenix Marketing International (PMI), who were weighted to reflect the distribution of Amadeus, Galileo, Sabre and Worldspan on a domestic and international basis, seven out of 10 (70%) recall seeing GDS promotion messages compared to 55% recall in 2007.

More than three quarters (77%) recall seeing promotional messages when using MYSABRE, while 64% of all global travel agents who were aware of promotional messages requested additional information by looking at the click-through screen.
