Travel agents in Germany have made a good start to 2006 in terms of sales, the latest monthly travel agency survey by the TATS organisation shows.

Overall revenues rose 8.4% in January, with holiday sales up 10.3% and flight ticket sales up 7.1%. Revenues from service fees for airline ticket sales grew 10.1%. Measured in terms of the November-October tourism business year, tourism turnover including revenues from advance sales grew 6% last month, and is up by 3.6% over the first three months of the 2005/06 year. The number of leisure bookings rose 3.1% in January, indicating stable pricing levels.

TATS also noted that the monthly survey now covers 2,750 German travel agencies, making it even more representative of overall market trends.
