The transition from hotel to plane is getting easier as hotel operators pump billions of dollars into technology that streamlines the travel experience for their best customers.

Hilton Chicago O'Hare on Tuesday began offering a service that allows its guests to check in for their flights using kiosks in the hotel lobby. The service expands to 34 other hotels in the next 10 days, Hilton Hotels says. It would be one of the industry's most aggressive rollouts so far of the service, which is being tested at other companies.

The move comes less than a month after Hyatt announced plans to let hotel guests sign up in hotel lobbies for the Registered Traveler program, which lets passengers who pose a minimal security risk to board without intrusive screening.
