Hotelbeds - a leading company providing online accommodation and destination services to travel organizers worldwide - has added five offices to its portfolio in Greece by acquiring the company Meridian Travel.

Commenting on today's announcement, Joan Vilà, Managing Director said: "Greece is a key market for Hotelbeds and we have further strengthened our incoming business into Greece with this new acquisition. We took our first step towards the consolidation of our local operations in Greece when we acquired Triaena Destination Management in mid 2004 and we are pleased with its development, mostly through new contracts with hotels and the specialist product of meetings & incentives."

Meridian is one of the leading destination management companies in the Greek market with an excellent reputation among local suppliers and clients. Operating since 1979, it has a network of offices located in Mikonos, Santorini, Rhodes and Skiathos, as well as a head office in Athens.

Vilà added: "This is our seventh acquisition during the last 2 years and we plan to continue with our geographical expansion by opening new offices and by purchasing other companies".

Hotelbeds' latest acquisition was last November, when Connoisseur Holidays Unlimited, based in Hawaii, was integrated into the group.
