Hotelbeds, an inbound travel company providing accommodation and destination services to travel organisers, will add 19 offices to its portfolio by acquiring the Asian Pacific network of companies Pacific World.

Peter Long, chief executive, First Choice said by acquiring Pacific World, an established company with operations in eight countries, the company has achieved a significant foothold in the Asia Pacific region through one acquisition.

Pacific World is a specialist inbound company in Asia providing meetings, incentives, conferences and events services to corporate clients, as well as foreign independent travel to tour operators and servicing the cruise line industry. With 19 offices in South East Asia and China and more than 450 employees, Pacific World operates from Hong Kong, China, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam and Cambodia.

Joan Vilà, Hotelbeds managing director said: “We recently took our first step towards the expansion in Asia when we opened our office in Shanghai and now, with this acquisition, we will be able to hugely increase our product portfolio in the region and rapidly build a presence that would not have been possible on our own”. He added, “The acquisition is consistent with the way Hotelbeds has successfully entered other key strategic markets over the past couple of years. Hotelbeds has taken leading, established offline businesses and introduced them to its source markets and customers whilst moving the business online. This enables the extension of its online as well as increasing Hotelbeds international spread and customer and product base.”
