Hotel metasearch site Room 77 has emerged as a standout player in the crowded field of hotel booking technology startups. Launched in 2011, the company has raised more than $40 million from a slate of travel industry luminaries including Expedia and Concur. In March, Room 77 hired as its CEO Drew Patterson, a former Kayak executive who also co-founded luxury travel flash sale site Jetsetter and hotel mobile check-in technology firm CheckMate. Patterson spoke with Business Travel News lodging editor Michael B. Baker about the role he thinks the tool will play in corporate travel, both managed and unmanaged, as well as how the hotel industry is adapting to the growth of mobile booking.
