Travel agents sold $6.9 billion in airline travel through the Airlines Reporting Corporation (ARC) in September, a 4 percent increase over September 2005.

For the year-to-date, total sales were up 11 percent to $59.9 billion. The average weekly sales per agency location rose 9 percent curing the month to $65,509. For the year, that figure is up 17 percent to $71,612.

The number of total accredited agency locations continued to decline. Locations were down 5 percent for the year to 21,296. The percentage of etickets during the month was 94.8 percent of all tickets sold.
