MSN India on Thursday announced its tie-up with New Jersey-based online travel company Desiya to capture a share in the burgeoning online travel market.

Once the agreement comes through, MSN would provide travel bookings and services including air tickets, hotel bookings, cars on rent, holiday packages and other destination services for India and worldwide to its users through Desiya.

"Online travel market has grown widely in the recent past due to low cost airlines and widespread use of internet in the country. So, there are huge opportunities present in this segment," MSN Digital Marketing Revenue and Strategic Business Head Rajnish told PTI.

Desiya Managing Director Amit Taneja said, "With our association with MSN India, we will be able to deliver the best online travel services to the Indians here, as well as abroad."

"In India, the e-commerce market is about 240 million dollars, out of which 120 million dollars constitute the travel market. This market is expected to grow to one billion by 2010," he said.

The agreement would enable us to offer composite packages for all travel related services to our customers, Rajnish said adding India is the fourth largest internet market in the world, with about 40 million internet users and is poised to capture the third slot globally by 2010.
