In connection with the announcement last month about Travelport's planned initial public offering of Orbitz Worldwide, it was revealed that the long-awaited migration of eBookers' Web sites to Travelport's new global technology platform will begin "in mid-2007."

That amounts to another delay in the switch to a more efficient platform.

Cendant acquired eBookers, which operates a dozen or so Web sites across Europe, in February 2005 for $350 million. The following year, Cendant was hit with a $122 million impairment charge because of eBookers' poor operating performance and a diminished valuation.

Much hope for eBookers has hinged on getting its technology house in order.
