According to a new sampling of airline tickets purchased in November by customers for travel around Christmas, said today that average airline ticket prices have declined slightly in the past few weeks.

Travelers can still expect to pay $25 to $50 more than last year for a holiday airline ticket. However, when conducted its first survey of holiday ticket prices, based on tickets purchased in October, average ticket prices were running $50 to $100 higher than last year.

"The recent dip in prices is certainly good news for travelers who haven't firmed up their holiday travel plans," said Mark Koehler,'s Senior Vice President, Airline Ticketing. "However, travelers would be well-advised to buy their tickets now, since prices are likely to start rising again as we get closer to the holidays."
