Social media has ranked highly in a survey of travel technology professionals conducted by Travel Technology Europe. The 2014 annual trade show will kick off at London’s Earl’s Court exhibition centre in under a month. Its annual survey found 71% of respondents believe having a presence on sites such as Facebook and Twitter was ‘essential’ to their business. Just one in ten respondents thought social media is a waste of time. Four out of five respondents ranked social media as the tool they have had the most success with when attracting new clients, second only to the company website. The survey findings also revealed that travel technology professionals plan to spend more money on social media than any other area, second only to mobile applications.
