High Street travel agents on their way out, to be replaced by the internet and telephone bookings?

Last week Mytravel closed 110 of their Going Places shops, pointing out that, because about a fifth of its holidays now sold online, the company no longer needs such a huge network.

In their defence, travel agents claim to offer personal, face-to-face service and experience you can't get at the click of a button or from a call centre in Bangalore.

But where can you get the best quality bargain break?
