UK budget chain Travelodge has added a ‘bargain hunter’ search facility on its website designed to track down lowest available rates.

The search device will enable customers to find hotels which have lead-in £26 room rates available (£46 in central London).

If the preferred property is not available, up to 20 nearest hotel options will be provided at the same rate.

The new functionality on the site is introduced as part of a redesign featuring reduced booking time. The company claims half of all room bookings are conducted online, with more than one million visits to the site each month and 200,000 registered Travelodge members.

Sales and marketing director Guy Parsons said: “Travelodge pioneered the introduction of the budget airline low-cost model into the UK hotel industry last year. We received a fantastic response to our new online pricing rate, but the biggest gripe our customers had was they could not always easily find a £26 or £46 rate when they needed it.

“We have launched the first bargain hunter search tool so that more of our customers can enjoy low-cost hotel accommodation than ever before. It is a simple formula, the further they book in advance, the cheaper the rate.

“There is no excuse for people to pay the extortionate room rates that most four-star hotels charge.”
