Team buying combines the power of the Internet to compare prices and to find enough other buyers to become eligible for group discounts. Team buying first began in online forums and chat rooms. Shoppers, looking for the same items would find each other online and then went as a collective to the store to demand hefty discounts. The team buing or ?tuangou? trend first started in China, but has now caught on world-wide. Dozens of team-buying Web sites have sprung up to catch the trend (most still in beta).

Team buying originated in China and is called tuangou. People organize online on site such as 51Tuangou or Teambuy and gather in shops at specific times to swarm the seller, negotiate discounts and avoid the abundance of fakes and fraud.

If the trend of team buying really catches on, as it has in China, more online sites and retailers will be participate.
