TripAdvisor Inc., the Newton, Mass.-based travel website, said Tuesday that it bought New York City-based Jetsetter, a members-only private sale site for hotel bookings, from its former owner, Gilt Groupe. While the company didn’t disclose terms of the acquisition, the Wall Street Journal reported in October that Gilt was putting Jetsetter up for sale for about $50 million. In a statement from TripAdvisor, the company said that the Jetsetter brand will continue to operate out of New York and will be incorporated into TripAdvisor’s subsidiary, Smarter Travel Media.
