“We are seeing good solid sales growth into 2014, and don’t expect a change in the trend in the near term,” said Sageworks analyst James Noe. Sageworks’ preliminary estimates for the most recent year show sales increased 7.5 percent in 2014, on top of a 4.8 percent gain in 2013 and roughly 8 percent growth in both 2012 and 2011. Noting several outside data sources indicate the improving economy has spurred both leisure and business travel demand, Noe said sales increases have also benefited from pricing power. “The room supply hasn’t really increased with the demand, so that’s why participants in the industry would see some of those higher numbers,” he said.
