More than 2,200 Utell by Pegasus member hotels are offering steep discounts this summer as part of the 2005 yearlong GREATRATE promotion.

During July and August, the minimum discount at participating hotels is 25 percent, with some properties offering rooms at nearly 50 percent off rack rate. As an added value, all guests booked via GREATRATE receive a complimentary breakfast after each night of their stay.

More than 2,200 hotels - including 1,500-plus properties in Europe, more than 500 in the Americas, and nearly 200 in Asia Pacific - are offering discounted rates via the GREATRATE program.

The GREATRATE program is our top selling program at our Champs Elysees hotel," said Cecile Ainciburu, director of sales at the Amarante Hotels Group in France. "In 2004, the GREATRATE program generated nearly a third of our summer revenues for this hotel, an increase of seven percent over 2003. We're expecting even better figures this year through our competitive summer rates." The Amarante Champs Elysees is a 4-star boutique hotel, featuring 42 upscale rooms on Paris' historic boulevard.

"The GREATRATE program is a major reason we continue extending our Utell by Pegasus membership," said Miguel Cusi, director of sales at the Kensington Close Hotel and Health Spa in London. "In 2004, the GREATRATE program delivered a 43 percent increase in revenue over 2003. And we're seeing even better figures for this year."

Travel agencies are increasingly taking advantage of the deep discounts available via the GREATRATE promotion to make reservations for both business and leisure travelers. "Utell by Pegasus hotels offer a tremendous range of properties," said Nick Foot, operations director for Hotelscene, a U.K.-based agency. "The summer GREATRATE specials offer a tremendous incentive, and clients are often thrilled when they learn about the free breakfast that comes with these deeply discounted rates." Hotelscene's GREATRATE bookings increased 255 percent in 2004.
