Until Airbnb becomes more forthcoming about the information in its listings, the company will continue to face opposition from municipalities that want to limit its growth.

Airbnb has become a thorn in the side of many cities who want to regulate its growth over the course of the decade-plus period in which it’s gone from scrappy sharing economy startup to hospitality behemoth.

Now the cities of Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin, Bordeaux, Brussels, Krakow, Munich, Paris, Valencia, and Vienna have asked the European Union to prevent granting vacation rental giant Airbnb carte blanche in the region.

Europe’s largest hotel group Accor and airline Air France-KLM are broadening their loyalty program by offering a dual reward scheme to their entire global customer base.

Some investors have said they see sense in tie-ups between the two companies through cooperations on loyalty programs, after Accor dropped plans to buy a minority stake in AirFrance-KLM last July, at a time when the airline was hit by boardroom and staff unrest.

Accor had said that a stake in the Franco-Dutch airline could help it compete better against travel packages offered by online rivals such as Expedia and Booking.com, but investors questioned why the hotel group would need to buy a stake in the troubled airline and said a looser tie-up was preferable.

The theory and practice of databases is old school and nostalgic. Is your hotel embracing the age of the ecosystem?

Data used to be part of a database. Now data is part of an ecosystem. Guest data comes into a hotel’s ecosystem from multiple channels and devices. The volume, variety and velocity of this information feeds the ecosystem and gives hotels a deeper understanding of their overall business.

Today, a hotel’s focus should be on connecting systems with the goal of looking at a more predictive and prescriptive future. It’s about looking ahead vs. the rear view.
